HISTORY and KNOWLEDGE

Kevin J. Kennedy, son of Bradley J. Kennedy Sr., is the third generation of the Kennedy family to work in the textile industry. At age 17, Bradley J. Kennedy Sr. started his career in Philadelphia, PA, in a cutting room ($00.35 Per Hour) for women's apparel manufacturer Jonathan Logan/ Act III before moving to Spartanburg, SC in 1968, to help with their Spartanburg, SC cutting and sewing operation. Bradley Sr. was later the founder and owner of L&K and Shelby Dye & Finishing in 1970, with operations in Spartanburg SC, Gaffney SC, Shelby NC, and the Dominican Republic. L&K produced ladies polyester activewear with product showrooms in New York NY, Atlanta GA, Miami FL, and Las Vegas NV. "Lucky Tops" and "Love and Kisses" labels were manufactured by L&K and sold in Belk's, JC Penney, and Bloomingdales among many others. L&K was also featured in Vanity Fair, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, and Vogue magazines.Bradley Sr. continued to operate Shelby Dye & Finishing and started BJK Co. through the 1990s, Bradley  Sr. was key to the success of several other textile businesses in Spartanburg County, most of which are still in operation today. Kevin, at age 17, along with his father, Bradley Sr., started and operated BJ Kennedy Corp., Inc., which operated as research and development service, just-in-time production, and provided private label cutting and sewing services, with operations in Spartanburg, SC. 
BJ Kennedy Corp., Inc. continued cutting and sewing operations until 2006. In 2007, Kevin was offered the opportunity to sell sewing, cutting, and textile machinery with a leading sewing and cutting machine distributor in Pittsburgh, PA, until 2020. Kennedy Sewing and Cutting Supply was established in 2021.
